#Duckumentary- Keenan Tookes
Today we speak with Carpenter, Keenan Tookes.

Is there a jobsite you’ve worked on that stands out to you? Why?
Temple Paley Hall definitely stands out to me and will always hold sentimental value because it was my first jobsite and my introduction to the construction industry. It was also just a great group of people to work with. As a first-year apprentice on my first jobsite, everyone was a tremendous help and welcomed me with open arms.
What’s one thing that helps a jobsite run smoothly?
Organization would have to be my choice. I feel like the more organized you are, the smoother everything runs. Knowing where everything is and being able to find what you need when you need it makes a big difference.
What’s something people would be surprised to learn about your job?
Probably the amount of cleaning that needs to be done and how important it is throughout the day. You might think that on a hectic jobsite, where there’s a lot going on, it wouldn’t matter as much. But having a clean work area and basket makes life a heck of a lot easier and helps you work much more efficiently.
What’s your go-to sandwich or lunch order?
If I had my choice, I could eat a bacon, egg and cheese on a long roll every day for the rest of my life. But most days, a PB&J gets the job done.
What motivates you on the job?
At this point in my career, learning as much as I can and becoming the most effective carpenter I can be is my biggest motivation.
What’s one tool you couldn’t live without?
It’s a tie between a tape measure and a knife. I feel like you need those two tools for just about every aspect of the job.
Who’s someone at EDA who makes your day better?
My guy Cody Morrone. He’s been training me pretty much since the beginning and has always led me in the right direction on the job. He can also be quite the comedian at times.
What’s one musical artist or podcast you couldn’t live without?
I’d have to go with Drake. He’s probably my favorite artist right now.
What does Successful Together look like on a jobsite?
Successful Together on a jobsite means everyone is in sync, knows their assignments and works cleanly, safely and effectively. It also means looking out for the person next to you. Having each other’s backs is what Successful Together looks like to me.
If you weren’t in construction, what would you be doing?
I think I’d be a firefighter if I wasn’t in this field.
