#Duckumentary- Nick Mastropierro
Today we speak with Carpenter, Nick Mastropierro.

Is there a jobsite you’ve worked on that stands out to you? Why?
I would have to pick the Hoboken Ferry Terminal job because I grew up in Hoboken. When I was a kid, I used to ride my bike around there and I remember admiring the copper work thinking that there really aren’t craftsmen like that anymore. Now I get to work on that building’s restoration.
What’s one thing that helps a jobsite run smoothly?
Good teamwork, from the leadership down to the apprentice.
What’s something people would be surprised to learn about your job?
In the last 25 years I’ve gotten to work on the Goethal’s bridge, the Bayonne bridge, the Brooklyn bridge, tunnels, high rises, data centers, commercial buildings, and shopping malls. I don’t think people realize that being in construction your finished work product is something tangible that as you drive by with your family, you can say I helped build that bridge, or I helped build that high rise. In the case of the Hoboken job, it’s not something I want to just drive by with my family, it’s something I want to drive to and share my sense of pride in the craftsmanship I was part of.
What’s your go-to sandwich or lunch order?
Chicken parm.
What motivates you on the job?
The challenge of figuring out solutions to problems.
What’s one tool you couldn’t live without?
My measuring tape.
Who’s someone at EDA who makes your day better?
Anyone with a good attitude and enthusiasm.
What’s one musical artist or podcast you couldn’t live without?
The Eagles
What does Successful Together look like on a jobsite?
Successful together means communicating well, bringing our individual strengths to a shared goal and taking pride in the finished project, knowing each person played a part. From company ownership to an apprentice learning the ropes, every role contributes to that success and deserves recognition.
If you weren’t in construction, what would you be doing?
If I wasn't a carpenter, I think I would have liked to study engineering.
